Pre season game against Coalville town Ladies

It was my second pre season game today for Arnold eagles. We had a lot of players pull out due to injury and COVID

We got to the ground and it was such a lovely ground, both pitches were in excellent condition and the changing facilities.

We only had 11 players so knew it was going to be a struggle, one of our new outfield players stepped into goal for us.

We started the game brightly and the girls were very much up for this one. we knew we had to reserve our energy and time our tackles as we had no subs.

Before the game I was given the captains band which I wasn’t expecting, it was a great moment to lead the team out especially with me being new.

We went 1-0 up after 15 mins a great through ball by cat which I latched on too and scored top right corner, my second goal came 10 mins after by another fantastic ball my Hollie.

Half time fast approached and everyone was giving it there all. But we was starting to get tired. Coalville managed to pull a goal back by a fantastic corner.

End result 2-1 to us, felt very proud coming off the pitch and fully enjoyed it, season starts next week

Pre Season

I have played football since I was 9 years old, my Sunday’s have always been occupied. Last year when COVID hit I decided to take a year out as I fell out of love with the game. The year went fast and my Sunday’s were filled with relaxing and roast dinners. But something was missing. I decided to get the boots back out again and I played the last half of the season with Gedling southbank.

There was no expectations with Gedling and I just turned up scored a few goals and went home. I found my self loving football again and at the age of 33 and seeing how some of the Young ones are and what they inspire to be, and how much I helped them and how they were starting to look up to me. I found my purpose again and why I started football in the first place.

With the season drawing to a close and Gedling struggling for players. I decided to put the feelers out and see if anyone wanted a striker. I wasn’t expecting the messages I got off various teams some a lot higher than I have previously played. Which then made me think I’m still at a good age and I shouldn’t stop I should only stop when my body tells me.

I went down to watch Arnold eagles it was a sunny afternoon and I brought the wife and children with me, it was a good game of football. Saw a few old faces and got chatting to a very good friend Selina who asked me to go to training, I thought why not it’s local and I know Selina and some of the girls. I went for my first training and friendly and I really did enjoy it. The rest is history.
